Jeffrey Young is a Malaysian guitar maker who has been making guitars since 1985. In 1993 he started as a full time as a luthier and began using the GIM (Guitar Institute Malaysia) brand name - but dropped this in favor of "Jeffrey Yong Guitars" in 1998. He established the Guitar Institute of Malaysia in 1993 to teach both guitar playing an luthiery. He is known for innovating the use of Malaysian woods such as Malaysian Blackwood and Monkeypod in acoustic guitars.
