Juan Pimentel Ramirez was born in Mexico in 1922. At the age of 12 he was already repairing guitars. He worked in a Paracho guitar factory and then opened his own shop in Mexico city in 1943 where he was joinedby several relatives. Juan Pimentel Ramirez became internationally renowned and made guitars for Gilberto Puente, Saulo Sedano and Andrés Segovia. He died around 1999 but Pimentel guitars continues, run by his sons José Luis & Fernando Pimentel.
