Martin Klema was born in 1976 in Czechoslovakia and studied guitar making in Luby from 1990 to 1995. After finishing his studies, he continued to work in Cheb, where he worked in the mass production of violins. He then returned to Slovakia, to work for PetSlov making cymbals. In 1996 he started Klema as an acousic guitar company. By 2000 he expanded production by moving to a farm in Kameničany and taking on extra staff. In 2005 Klema introduced a series of Chinese made guitars - The White Line. The Black Line guitars are made in Slovakia
