Jan Knooren studied double bass at the music conservatory in Maastricht, Holland. Proficient on both electric and upright bass he has performed with Chet Baker, Eric Gale, Toots Tielemans, and many others. Knooren comes from a family of furniture makers. Combining his musical and technical knowledge lead him to specialise in double bass and cello repairs. He also makes basses and guitars and his basses are played by John Patitucci, Brian Bromberg and Motohiko Hamase.
