Kodex Audio had its origins in the Ground-Fx boutique guitar effects company founded in 2017 in Hamburg, Germany by Ben Laging. In 2021 Ben started to offer the Kodex electric guitar alongside pedals and as a result changed the company name to Kodex Audio around 2022.
