Koentopp guitars are made by Dan Koentopp. Koentopp studied guitar performance with Fred Hand for a couple years before enrolling in Product Design at Columbia College where he focused on guitar design. Koentopp then met violin maker Michael Darnton and joined the restoration team at Darnton & Hersh Fine Violins where he learned and restoration techniques on antique instruments. Koentopp now applies these techniques to the construction of archtop guitars, but also makes classical and solid body electric guitars.
