Bernie Lehmann was trained by master luthier Owen Shaw in Boston and has been custom building early and modern instruments since 1971, Steel string acoustic guitars are Lehmann's speciality, but he has made a  variety of instruments throughout his career including: classical guitars; lutes and vihuelas; rebecs and vielles (medaeval fiddles), mandolin family instruments, banjo necks, dulcimers and custom electric guitars and basses.
