Charles Lindert established the Lindert brand in 1986, producing hand made guitars out of Chelan Falls in Washington.
The guitars, with names inspired by railway themes, had a distinctive "thumbs-up" headstock, some with resin moulded bodies and vintage cloth or tweed inserts (looking like vintage radios).Other unusal features include the missing link pickup switch which allows pickup combinations of neck, bridge, or all three single coils on together, and the "escape velocity" neck with a half rounded - half V shaped profile.
Production is said to have transferred to Korea in the early 2000s, and soon after the company shut down completely around 2002.
