Jeff Mallia made his first instrument (a scaled down violin) at the age of 13. By age 19 he had made his first bass and this became his passion. Mallia worked in medical electronics for 10 years, developing medical devices but in 1998 decided to make luthiery his full time job. Mallia specialises in solid bodied electric basses but also makes electric and acoustic guitars in his Sydney workshop.
