Roy Bullis (a retired engineer) started the Onyx Forge brand in 2004. The first few were made with OEM necks and bodies, but soon he started making his own bodies and later also custom necks. He worked alone making around one custom electric guitar per month.  Roy Bullis passed away in 2013.
