Weissenborn or H. Weissenborn is a brand of acoustic lap slide guitar originally made by Hermann Weissenborn in Los Angeles during the 1920s and 1930s. The Weissenborn's hollow body runs the full length of the fingerboards. They are desgined to be played in the lap steel fasion.
Original Wiessenborns are now highly sought after. It is estimated that fewer than 5000 of these original instruments were produced, with an unknown number surviving to the present day.
Modern day Wiessenborn instruments are made in China and distributed by Gold Tone.
