X-ray Guitar Co. was founded by Kurt Snider, the maker of the Bootleg Bones electric guitar. Kurt went to Bell N Howell Electronics Tech School in Columbus OH, before getting a job at a small shop in Metamora, MI that gave him basic machining skills. He then went on to Detroit Industrial Engineering as a wood model machinist doing future model Chrysler cars in crash testing through the 1980s and into the 1990s.  He left to open his own electronics shop with friend Mike Surfass. He used his wood machining skills to develop the Bootleg Bones electric guitar - with a skull and various other bones carved into the body.
