The Burns Flyte was launched in 1974 by Burns UK. The Flyte was James Burns' first design under his own name after he sold his original Burns business to Baldwin in the 1960s. The Flytes were made by Shergold with the electronics done by Re-An. The Flyte has a swept-wing mahogany body and pointed headstock giving it an aeronautical look.The bolt-on neck maple usually with an ebonized maple fingerboard. Pickups were two Mach One Humbuster humbuckers. The Flyte was discontinued in 1977 when the Burns UK company ended.
