Actually, your website is

Actually, your website is wrong. The first gcs4s were manufactured in or right around 1984. I have a gcs4, back brace stamped made in Korea, bought in '84, the first year of Korean production. Sigma was manufactured in Japan until 1983. A sigma manufactured in 1996 would have been manufactured in Indonesia, and a year or a few years later, sigma was discontinued. Just in recent years, a company called AMI has purchased the rights to the sigma guitar brand name and has restarted production, although they are horrible quality. Hope this helps you update your website with more accurate information, have a wonderful day.

Sigma GCS

Thanks for taking the time to correct the information, I really appreciate it & I have updated the page

GCS-4

Beg to differ, I agree with the article. I have a GCS-4 that is much older than yours, matching the ones made in Japan in the mid 70's, with a 5 digit serial number, made in Japan "purple" label, with the sideways M on the headstock and label, like the earliest Sigmas, but no zero fret, Figure it is made in the first three years, 1975 or so.

Sideways M with block

Sideways M with block lettering was only made in 1970. After that, went to script "Sigma" with the M
