| 2018 | $525 | good | Matt | I already have a '77 F340 I bought used in college for $200. That one still plays and sounds good after many campfires and parties and travels. My guitar guy went through the neck and fixed some fret grooves that had developed over many years. I decided I wanted a nice acoustic six-string that I could take out to perform or jam, and started looking at Taylors, Gibsons, the usual suspects. At some point it occurred to me that a solid-top version of the Takamine would be just fine, and I could add another lawsuit guitar to my collection. I found an F360s on eBay, somebody bid me up a bit, but I still got a really decent instrument without paying for a big name. The F360s is the one I take when I'm going out now. With a capo and a tuner clipped to the headstock, the signature is hidden enough that most people assume it's a Martin. I live about two hours from the Martin factory in Nazareth, I've had the tour and played some Martins, but for some reason they never appealed to me. Not sure why. Their prices are high and their owners are a cult-like group. It almost feels good to stick that old square Takamine headstock out there and see whether anybody notices the difference... |

Takamine F-360 SD

I own a Takamine F-360 SD. It has solid Rosewood back and side's and spruce top. 1978 model. Rosewood neck and bridge etc. Can anyone tell me anything about it please as it is not listed on the Takamine web site in the F- series. Just F-360S. No SD models. Thankyou. From Craig, Australia.

I'm not finding much info about my F series either. I have the original owners manual, but it doesn't go into depth about the model. Mine is an F360D (not SD), in sunburst from 1980 I bought it new, and still have the original case and truss rod wrench. It also has rosewood back and sides, spruce top, It has a mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard and bridge. It is supposedly a "lawsuit guitar" although there evidently never was a lawsuit. The logo was very similar to the Martin logo.

Hi David. I just found your reply.Takamine never got sued by Martin. Takamine had all the blue prints for Martin Guitars Because Martin wanted Takamine to build guitars for them. But Takamine backed out of the deal, Thats what ive found doing my research. Yasuma is the Japanese company that got sued by Martin for copyright infrigment. There was big bon fires all over USA burning all of Yasuma Instruments and the UK ,I have had a Yasuma acoustic guitar 70s model for over 40 years and it sounds great! It is a Red Sunburst, very little information about Yasuma guitars and instruments ect too, I think Yasuma stopped making instruments in 1981, the company still exists but they make furniture.Not any instruments. My Takamine is a Tobaco Sunburst and its fantastic to play and sounds Excellent F-360SD. Many well known muso's play Takamine Acoustic guitars. Pink Floyd and the Boss Bruce Springsteen ect. They make a excellent guitar!
