Plugin on Sketchup-8 Mac

Thanks for reporting this.
I haven't tested the plugin in Sketchup 8 yet, but I just downloaded version 8 it and I'll start testing now. I haven't got a Mac to test on, but I'll check over at Sketchucation forums to see if there are any special issues about version 8 and Macs.
Have you used the plugin with Sketchup V7 successfully on a Mac?

[Grin] I just tried to do the same thing. It's not working with the error message 'Error Loading File skp_to_dxf.rb
no such file to load -- sketchup.rb' if that helps...

Sketchup 8 + Mac

OK I tested it with Sketchup version 8 on a PC , and it worked - but this doesn't help us with your problem!
I made a small change to the plugin (where it checks for version number), try downloading the plugin again and test it.
Can you tell me the folder where the skp_to_dxf.rb plugin is located on your Mac?
Also have you tried upgrading to the latest Sketchup, there was a maintenance release on Jan 11th 2011 which fixed a few issues with version 8.
Thanks for taking the time to report this,
Nathan

Hi there - thanks for getting back so quickly! :)
I re-downloaded the plugin - to install it, I did:
[Atlantis:~/] simon% sudo mkdir -p /Library/Application\ Support/Google\ SketchUp\ 8/Sketchup/Plugins
[Atlantis:~/] simon% sudo cp ~/Downloads/skp_to_dxf.rb /Library/Application\ Support/Google\ SketchUp\ 8/Sketchup/Plugins
but it still gave me the same error: "Error Loading File skp_to_dxf.rb no such file to load -- sketchup.rb" on launch.
... so I re-downloaded Sketchup, installed it, and told it to check for a newer version to be sure. It said there was a newer version (!) so I re-downloaded it again from the provided link, and then it all seems to work. I guess I had an old version of Sketchup 8. Now I can export STL directly.
Thankyou very much :)
Simon.
