DAKOTA

product types:

  • acoustic guitars
  • acoustic electric guitars

Information:

Dakota Guitars' acoustic designs combined traditional craftsmanship with high tech computer aided design. The guitars were made in Asia for distribution in the USA by Sound Trek Distributors of Tampa, Florida.

The Dakota models were named after rare American animals (buck, big-horn, wolf, cougar, eagle and grizzly). Each had an abalone bound headstock with a snowy mountain inlay. Dakota planned to limit production to just 200 of each model - to "create an added excitement and collectible factor".

In 2010 the Dakota brand was in use on a range of budget acoustics, not related to these models.

Dakota G1 Grizzly

Produced for paragon music in Tampa,FL, they are exceptionally well made guitars limited to a 200 piece production per series.

Solid wood construction, mine has a solid spruce top with east indian rosewood back and sides. Original price was around 1000 dollars, alot of abalone inlay gold tuners etc..

If you can find one get it there pretty scarce!

Dakota Grizzly

I bought one of these at Paragon Music a few years ago and love the sound. It's even better plugged in.  The thing that origionally caught my eye when I was looking for a new acoustic, was the abalone binding and the abalone around the sound hole, That's normally an expensive feature.  It is truly a beautiful guitar and I have never been disappointed with it.  Mine has a 012 production number and you're correct, not many have heard of them.  I've played many acoustics over the years and this is right up there with the best of them when it comes to sound quality and appearance.

Dakota DG500S

I trade one of my passions (BMX bike) for a Córdoba Ukelele and this rare Dakota electric Acoustic guitar (DG500S) with a label inside that says Dakota hand crafted Empire Musical Instruments U.S.A Inc But I can’t find any other information online or anywhere else, I will love to share some pictures too
