Jam Pedals

Jam Pedals is a guitar & bass effects company located in Athens, Greece. It was founded by Jannis Anastasakis around 2007. Jam was initially as a one man operation but now has a small workforce who hand-make, hand-paint and meticulously inspect each pedal before shipping. They also have a custom shop offering point-to-point wiring, limited runs, cross-genre and cross-medium artwork applications.

Gurus

The Gurus brand was founded in Italy in 2013 by Guglielmo Cicognani. GURUS started with a small range of pedal effects and tube amplifiers - the amps could interface with smartphones, tablets and PCs. In 2014 the Gurus SRL company was formed with 2 new partners: Chicco Bellini and Alberto Pagani. The company focus shifted more to effects pedals and accessories.Cicognani left the company in 2017 (around the time of the Foxgear launch which moved GURUS production to China) - to focus on continuing to make effects and amplifiers in Italy.

Empress

Empress Effects Inc. is a guitar and bass effects company based in Ottawa, Ontario. The company was founded by Steve Bragg and their effects are renowned for sophisticated digital control, preset storage and MIDI integration with analog technology. Empress Effects started in 2005, after Bragg had graduated from  Queens University with a degree in electrical engineering. His friend commissioned a tremolo effects unit with a unique set of features. By the time he had made it his friend no-longer needed it but Steve sold it at a local used instruments store. The store liked it so much that they ordered 10 more and Empress Effects was born.

Wren

David Wren has been building guitars since the mid 1970s.  He started out as an apprentice with Jean-Claude Larrivee in 1973. During his time with Larrivee he was able to work with other talented luthiers including Grit LaskinLinda Manzer, Sergei de Jonge, Tony Duggan-Smith and George Gray. He started his own workshop in 1977 and for the next 10 years produced around 20 instruments per year. He focused on acoustic guitars ranging from his original Concert body style to Orchestra Models and Dreadnoughts, as well as hand carved archtop jazz guitars.

Truetone

Truetone was a guitar brand of the Western Auto mail order company in the 1960s with instruments made by the big Chicago factories such as Kay. Circa 2021 Trutone is an effects brand founded by Bob Weil - initially as Visual Sound, in 1995. The brand was renamed Truetone in 2015.

Stinger

Stinger was an electric guitar and bass brand launched by CF Martin in 1985. The Stinger instruments were made in Korea (by Samick?) for distribution in the USA. The brand lasted until the mid 1990s at least.

DryBell

In 1996 Zvonko Suhodolcan (Zvonch) started to build amplifiers, guitar pedals and effects for himself, for his friends and for people who wanted small custom designs. . Zvonch started development of the V-1 back in 2009 and when the V-1 was released in 2011, he was producing the V-1 pedals in a very small room at his family home. in 2014 he expanded DryBell and moved to their current workshop in Krapina, Croatia. The company now has a core team of 5 and several other supporting workers.

Universal Audio

Universal Audio was founded in 1958 by Bill Putnam Sr. as a maker of recording equipment. Putnam was the inventor of the modern recording console, the multi-band audio equalizer, and the vocal booth, and he was the first engineer to use artificial reverberation in commercial recording. Alongside his friend Les Paul, Putnam was also involved in the early development of stereophonic recording. Putnam started three audio product companies during his career: Universal Audio, Studio Electronics, and UREI. All three companies built equipment that remains widely used decades after their introduction, including the LA-2A and 1176 compressors, and the 610 tube recording console.
