The silver Star guitar was built by John Birch workshop in 1975 for the late Gerry Shephard of the Glitter Band for the release of their "Love in the Sun"Album. It was based on the a gold star guitar that Shephard had been using since 1972. The Star Guitar was reissued in 2008, when the people at John Birch Guitars got together again with the Glitter Band's current guitarist Marc Pearson who commissioned a new star guitar with extras (including Variax electronics). The standard version is supplied in the same metal flake silver finish used on Shephard's guitar.
