ELK CUTLASS

Overview

Brand name:

Product:

  • electric guitars

Dates of manufacture:

1972

The Japanese made ELK Cutlass (CT-360, CT-440 models) was a solid body electric guitar - with a single cutaway telecaster shaped body. It was finished in thick polyester ivory white with a matching laminated pickguard with black "ELK" logo on it.

The bridge had six individually adjustable sections - not at all like a telecaster - and there was a Bigsby-style tremolo.

The maple neck was bolt-on with rosewood fingerboard and 23 frets - including a zero fret. The headstock is tele shaped with 6-a-side tuners, two string trees and a black capitalised ELK logo.

The pickups were two ELK custom made units - one covered (at the neck) and one with adjustable pole-pieces (at the bridge). The bridge pickup was NOT angled like a Fender-telecaster.

Controls were single volume and control - the jack socket is mounted next to these controls in the metal plate on the front of the guitar. The three way pickup switch is mounted in the scratch plate, on the end of the body horn.
