EPIPHONE CORONET (1958-1970)The Coronet was introduced in 1958 as a single pickup entry level version of the Crestwood model. The pickup was an Epiphone New York unit for the first year of production but in 1959 this was changed to a P-90 pickup. The Coronet design was changed in 1963 with the introduction of an asymmetrical body, 6 in a row batwing headstock, covered p-90 pickup. The original Coronet had a Smooth, angled wrap-around bridge until 1961 when a compensated straight unit was introduced. From 1962 to 1966 a Maestro vibrato was optinal.
EPIPHONE CORONET (1995-2000)The Epiphone Coronet was introduced by Epiphone in 1959, two years after Gibson aquired the brand. Costing around $120 it was designed as a reliable entry level guitar. The Coronet was discontinued in the 1970s when production of Epiphone guitars was moved overseas.
EPIPHONE CORONET (U.S. 1991-94 MODELS)The limited production run of USA made Epiphone Coronet of the early 1990s had a single coil in the neck position and a humbucker in the bridge position, with a pull-out tone knob to tap the humbucker and a two-octave rosewood fingerboard with rectangular block markers and a reverse Explorer-style headstock. These USA Coronet guitars had the option of gold hardware with stop tailpiece or black hardware with licensed Floyd Rose locking tremolo.
