The Epiphone Crestwood Custom was introduced in 1959 as a 2 mini humbucker version of the Crestwood model (although for the first year of production the Custom had the same New York pickups as the standard Crestwood model). The Crestwood Custom went though the same design changes as the other Epiphone models in the 1960s. Initial versions had symmetrical bodies and 3 per side tuners - this was changed to asymmetrical bodies and batwing 6 per side headstocks from 1963 to 1969. Even over the first few years of production there were subtle changes in the headstock design, pickguard shape and fingerboard inlays (with oval inlays replacing dots in 1962).
The Epiphone Crestwood Custom was made at Gibson's Kalamazoo factory. The 1962 Crestwood Custom was reissued by Epiphone in 2013 with a limited production run of 1,962 instruments.
