The single pickup Epiphone Sorrento (E452T) was introduced in 1960. It was a hollow bodied archtop very similar in design to the Gibson ES-125TC, with one mini PAF humbucker in the neck position. A vibrato tailpiece was an optional extra. There were several changes to this model during the 1960s. The initial E452T had dot fingerboard markers and a metal headstock logo plate. In 1962 the fingerboard inlays were changed to ovals and the headstock logo was screen printed on. In 1965 the headstock shape was elongated. This model was discontinued in 1969.
Similar models were the two pickup version - E452TD, and a short scale length version the E452T¾. Although the 2 pickup E452TD version has been reissued (in the 1990s and in 2013) the single pickup model has not yet been reissued.
