The G&L Legacy was introduced in 1992. WIth its three CLF-100 Alnico single coil pickups the basic Legacy model is the closest to the classic Stratocaster design of all the Legacy Series guitars. The body wood is swamp ash on premier finishes or alder on standard finishes. The bolr-on maple neck has either maple or rosewood fingerboard with G&L's modern classic profile and 9.5 inches radius.

The G&L Legacy 2HB is a strat style two humbucker guitar that shares many features with the G&L Legacy HB. The difference is that it has two humbuckers: a Seymour Duncan '59 in the neck position and Seymour Duncan TB-4 at the bridge, a proven combination used for years by G&L in various models. Earlier models had Seymour Duncan a 58N humbucking pickup in the neck position with a Seymour Duncan JB humbucker in the bridge position.

The G&L Legacy Deluxe has a flamed maple top on a Stratocaster shaped swamp ash body. The G&L Legacy Deluxe has rear mounted controls (and no pickguard) to show off the fancy maple top. Pickups are a Seymour Duncan TB4 humbucker (with a coil tap mini switch) at the bridge position and two G&L vintage Alnico V single coils. The Legacy Deluxe has the G&L PTB tone control system.

The G&L Legacy HB is a version of the Legacy with a Seymour Duncan TB4 humbucker at the bridge position (with coil tap). Otherwise it is the same as the Legacy, with Schaller non-locking tuners, G&L patented "Dual Fulcrum" tremolo, and two G&L vintage style Alnico V single coil pickups.

G&L introduced the Legacy Special model in 1993. The Legacy Special had extra features over the standard stratocaster style Legacy model including: a graphite nut, locking Sperzel tuners and different pickups (2 dual blade and one power blade single coil sized humbuckers).
