G&L first produced the SC-2 between 1983 and 1984. It was the two single coil pickup version of the G&L SC-1. The SC-2 has two of Leo Fender's Jumbo Magnetic Field Design (MFD) pickups and powder coated fixed bridge or non-locking vibrato. The G&L ASAT model had the same pickups and hardware as the SC-2. The neck is joined the body around the 16th fret using three bolts, allowing easy adjustment of the neck angle and allowing the truss rod nut to be located at the headstock end.
G&L reissued the SC-2 in 2009 with an updated design. These later models do not have the curved control plate of the early SC-2s. The reissues have alder or ash bodies and the G&L Saddle Lock bridge or G&L Dual Fulcrum tremolo.
