Bought my Yamaha in 2003 when I was sent to TX for work. Didn't really know anybody so I needed a friend, and it has been by my side ever since! Inexpensive but not cheap. Very solid guitar, light and comfortable. Has and amazing ability to stay in tune in all kinds of conditions. My rating is based on how well it sounds and has held up for 20 years. It was an under $300 package deal. Came with a cheap case a capo and a few picks. I think it deserves 4 stars.

I was given an FG-402 for my birthday in the year 2000. It’s 2021 now, and it’s been a daily workhorse for me the past 21 years. It’s been hitchhiking with me across the country, bounced around in a lot of old pickup truck beds, used for busking in every major city on the west coast, spent a few years in Chicago with the intense seasonal changes in temperature and moisture, and this thing just works. I’ve changed the strings maybe 5 times in 21 years, never had any work done to it at all. I learned how to play and write music on this thing, which became my main passion in life shortly after receiving the guitar. I’ve gradually moved to fingerpicking only/primarily, so I am looking into getting another guitar with a wider nut spacing, but I would recommend the FG-402 or it’s modern day equivalent anytime.

the guitar is very solid. It has a nice low end and rings out nicely the neck is very low set, the action is good. I would recommend this to someone who needs a good sounding acoustic and is also on a budget. this guitar is very versatile and I look forward to keeping it for a while. It has a nice weight to it unlike new guitars.
