Love my 1992 Fender Prodigy II Strat! Plays easy, great sound, looks GOOD! Blocked the Vibrato (Tremolo) and put Ernie Ball Super Slinkies on it. I've often been offered MUCH more than I paid for it. No thanks, I'm keeping it!

Bought it used online as a backup guitar after my other backup guitar was stolen. Played it at times instead of my strat because of the humbucker. Then I slowly found myself favoring it over my strat. It turned into my main guitar for several years. It is the only guitar I've ever owned that will surprise me with a tone or sound that I did not expect. You can play anything on this guitar. I have had to replace the jack, toggle switch and eventually the humbucker, but it is still a sweet little guitar. Kahler locking bridge and nut keeps it in tune even if I abuse the whammy bar a little too much.

I bought mine new in 91 learned to play on it...dropped it a few times causing a few dings in it and replaced the hb with one my friend gave me out of a jackson..played it like that for years bought a gibson sg had that about a year and sold it..about a year ago I put a pearly gates hb in it and now it is absolutely perfect..I will never sell it it plays better than any other guitar I can think of it is a highly under rated guitar that should have been produced alot longer it has never needed anything more than a string change...the hb replacement was just a choice very well made

I bought a used white Fender Prodigy back in the early 2000's for only $200.00. It was dirty but not dinged or chipped, and the pickguard seemed to take most of the abuse. It had a great neck with light wear on good medium-jumbo frets, and everything worked as it was supposed to. Over the following few years, I did the following to improve its condition. First, I cleaned and polished the body and shielded the pickup routing. The frets were dressed and polished. I replaced the pot metal bridge saddles on the vintage-style vibrato with GFS forged stainless saddles, and had a new tortoiseshell pickguard made by Pickguard Heaven, as I remember. It cost about $65.00, but the guitar is now gorgeous and looks like new. The new pickguard is 3-ply and plenty strong to support the jack despite the screws being close to the corners. While I was gigging with it, I was pleased with the two single-coil pickups, but I found the bridge HB to be dull...no wonder with a reading of 15K ohms. My final mod is pending now, and I will be replacing the bridge HB with a hot P-90 style pickup that should brighten up the sound and be a good match for the loud single-coils. None of the upgrades/mods was expensive, and I'm very happy with this underrated bargain. I bought this guitar to refurbish and sell, but I got to like it as much as my Strat, and I would never sell it now. If it were stolen, I would be extremely upset because I can't replace it. Too bad they were discontinued!

I own one of the 1991 guitars in black. The pick guard broke where the guitar input jack is and I would like to buy a new one and can't find one. If anyone has any ides where I can buy one would be helpful. Terrible design flaw by fender to put the input jack in the pick guard next to the screw that holds the pick guard on as lot of stress when unplugging the guitar cord causing the guard to break. Other than that no complaints it play nice and has a good voice. I am the original owner and never had any issues with this except the pick guard. Please contact me at [email protected] if you can help me locate a pick guard.

Solid and one of the best guitars ever made in the 1990s. Solid voice like nasal tone on the neck pickup. She can sing and dance. She rock and she can roll. She can lie down or bang her head.
