The Gibson CF-100 (introduced in 1950) and the CF-100e (introduced in 1951) were the only single cutaway flat-top Gibson acoustics made in the 1950s. They are relatively rare.
GIBSON CF-100GIBSON manufactured the CF-100 between 1950 and 1959, it was the only 50s Gibson flat top with a cutaway. This model was also available with a P-90 pickup as the CF-100e (introduced in 1951). Only around 1700 Gibson CF-100s were made in total. Gibson described the CF-100 as follows in their 1957 brochure: | |
GIBSON CF-100 EGIBSON manufactured the CF-100 E between 1951 and 1959. It was Gibson's first attempt at creating an acoustic-electric guitar - being a CF-100 with a single coil P-90 magnetic pickup. It was designed for Country and Western Artists who preferred a flat top electric acoustic in a slightly smaller size and cutaway style. It had a Golden Sunburst finish and Florentine Cutaway design for easier access to higher frets. The top was selected spruce, with Honduras mahogany back and rim, ivoroid binding and purfling ring. |
