GIBSON made the first LES PAUL DOUBLE CUTAWAY BASS (BLD4) in 2005

GIBSON produced the LES PAUL SIGNATURE BASS between 1973 and 1979. The Les Paul Signature bass was hollow bodied with an arched maple top and a single low impedance Super humbucking pickup. Early examples have rounded edged pickups, chicken head selector switch and chrome pickup surrounds -  later models have a rectangular shaped pickup with plastic surround and a circular selector control.

GIBSON began making the LES PAUL STANDARD BASS 4-STRING (BAL3) in 1998

The first Les Paul Standard Bass 5-String was produced by GIBSON in 1998

GIBSON introduced the LES PAUL TRIUMPH BASS in 1972. The Les Paul Triumph Bass was introduced around the same time as the Les Paul Recording guitar and it has a very similar control plate and control layout as well as low impedance humbucking pickups. This low impedance circuitry was designed to be used with a special cable and transformer to give a Hi-Fi quality reproduction of the pickup signal.
