GIBSON made the Corvus III between 1982 and 1984. It had a hardwood body shaped like a can-opener. The body shape is distinctive with no horns or cut-aways, a bit like a cross between a Les Paul and a Flying V with a strat neck. The bolt-on maple neck had 22-frets and a rosewood fingerboard with white dot inlays.
The bridge was fixed tune-o-matic style. Hardware was chrome. It had strat-style electronics: three exposed single coil pickups, a five-way switch, one volume control, and one tone control.
