The Gibson Murphy Lab 59 Les Paul Standard is crafted for authenticity, featuring a reverse-engineered lacquer formula, hand-rubbed finish, and hardware that replicates the appearance of long-term use. Produced in a specialized division of the Custom Shop, this guitar is a testament to the skills of Gibson Master Artisan Tom Murphy, known for his work with Clapton, Page, Slash, and others. Included with the guitar is a hardshell case bearing Murphy's hand-signed initials in the neck pocket.

Commissioned by the Guitar Center Platinum team two years ago, the Gibson Custom Tom Murphy aged 59 Les Pauls were created in collaboration with Master Luthier Tom Murphy. These replicas of the revered 1959 Les Paul are designed to be virtually indistinguishable from the originals, making them sought-after, vintage-accurate, and collectible instruments in the electric guitar industry.

The Tom Murphy 1959 Les Paul Standard boasts three distinct finishes—Aged Cherry Burst, Lemon Drop, and Factory Burst—all meticulously aged by Tom Murphy, complemented by upgraded aged plastic and hardware. The guitar features a heavy-aged, nitrocellulose lacquer finish, a hand-carved maple top, and a mahogany body. Its 24.75"-scale mahogany neck houses a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard. Equipped with dual Gibson Custombucker pickups and a 3-way switch, the guitar also features a brass-saddle ABR-1 tune-o-matic bridge, stopbar tailpiece, and Kluson reissue tuners. Finish options include Aged Cherry Burst, Factory Burst, and Lemon Drop.
