GIBSON manufactured the ES-240 between 1977 and 1978. According to The Gibson Book, only 3 were shipped. They probably thought that it was too close to the ES-347, and so decided to drop off the ES-240. It's the pre-ES-347, with coil tap switch, and stop tailpiece (back then the ES-335 had a trapeze stock tailpiece).
