GRETSCH manufactured the Axe models G7685 and G7686 from 1997-1999, from 2002-2003 and in 2008. This was the reissue of the Gretsch Atkins Axe model of 1977-1980, but because Chet Atkins was no longer involved with Gretsch his name was removed and the model was simply the Gretsch Axe.
