The origins of the Guild F-30R can be traced to some F-30 specials made for Paul Simon in 1967. These guitars were similar to the F-30 but had Brazilian rosewood back and sides, ebony fingerboard, Brazilian rosewood bridge and Grover rotomatics. It became a regular model in 1973. Briefly discontinued in 1975 it was revived again in 1976 but with an F-50 style neck and deluxe appointments making it essentially a scaled down version of the F-50R.
