GUILD manufactured the S-90 between 1970 and 1976. It was an asymmetric SG-shaped solid body electric like the Guild S-100, but had dot inlays and single volume and tone controls. Early ones had a covered combined bridge & tailpiece, but by 1973 this was replaced by a Guild Adjusto-matic bridge and brass stop tailpiece.

This guitars factory pick-ups as delivered has a very 60s psychedelic sound.Best as I can describe it.
I'm sure this may have been a popular selling sound for this price point in 1970
Guild S-90

I was lucky enough to get hold of one of these amazing guitars a year ago. 1973 or 74 model. (Tracking serial numbers for for vintage Guild electrics is an inaccurate science.) Walnut finish. Tons of mojo. The pickups are amazing. Sort of Vintage Fender widerange, but with very high output. Kind of airy, scooped mid sound. Noticably more powerful than my 335 and JL Casino with Gib usa P90s. I like the simple one vol one tone layout. The tuners were worn out, but i sourced a set of NOS Gotohs. The bridge had been replaced with a Schaller rolling bridge. The neck is much thinner than I’m used to. Very easily bent out of tune, so it needs a light touch. Upside is you don’t miss a trem. I use it for slide and fingerpicking in open E. Very nice clean sounds and jangly dirt too, through my AC15HW.
