According to Guild, the Stuart X700 was the ultimate in electric jazz guitars, the pride of their sound engineers and wood craftsmen. Its distinctive fast-action neck was fashioned of 5-piece selected maple and mahogany. The choice ebony fretboard was elegantly inlaid with deluxe two-tone abalone and mother of pearl position markers. The Stuart's full "Venetian" cutaway body was 17 3/4" wide by 3 1/2" deep and boasted the same graduated carved solid spruce top as the Artist Award. Gold plated hardware, and engraved "harp" tailpiece added the final touch to this superb instrument.
This model was discontinued around 2000 (it doesn't appear in the Guild 2001 price-list) - it was replaced by the 2001 X700 Stuart Benedetto Signature model. The X700 Stuart, Benedetto Signature model differed from the regular X700 Stuart model in the following ways: it had a longer 25.5" scale length, smaller body, an all maple neck, Benedetto A-6 pickups and inlaid Benedetto logo at the 12th fret. The X700 Benedetto was also almost $6000 more expensive.
