I agree

He has worked on two of my guitars, and I was pleased with the results:

  •  a Yamaha APX 5A, the factory set-up was not great and Simon improved the action.
  • an Ibanez 540P Power,  this was my main guitar the frets were getting worn down, Simon re-crowned them and set up the floating tremolo

great job

I WOULD LIKE TO SAY THAT SIMON HAS DONE SEVERAL OF MY FENDERS AND HE HAS DONE A GREAT JOB ON ALL OF THEM AND AT A GREAT PRICE AND ONCE I COULD NOT GET TO HIM TO COLLECT ONE SO HE CAME UP TO MY HOUSE TO DELIVER THE GUITAR  AND I LIVE IN CARMARTHEN.

Give the Guy a break

If your not happy with Simon, take your guitar elsewhere. You'll soon realise what a talented guy he is AND how reasonable his prices are. There are so called Luthiers about that I wouldn't ask to saw a plank, I,ve seen their work.

Simon is a friendly enthusiastic guy, if your not happy, go see him and not put comments on a web site.

FROM SIMON JONES

Many thanks all of you for the kind support! I hope my occasional comments on this forum will help readers realise I am deadly serious about my commitment to customer satisfaction and will stop at nothing to ensure this is maintained at all cost.

Indeed the very reason I discovered this thread is due to my regular internet searches of my own name with the intention to maintain customer relations, learn from people's experiences and and to generally keep track of unjust and unfair bad-mouthing that sadly takes place on such forums by rare individuals who are too cowardly to vent their opinions directly to their victim.

I am happy to say I have found only this and one other forum where a negative comment was made regarding my services (the other one was also unfounded, the writer confronted and the apparent "complaint"  was duly retracted!)

This is pretty good going after more than 12,000... yes TWELVE THOUSAND... repairs, setups, refrets, custom builds, renovations, customisations and other services on just about every stringed instrument ever made worth anything from £15 to £40,000. (yep, that's how much Marc Bolans flying V was valued at when I worked on it).

My experience with Simon has also been excellent.

He has worked on 2 electric guitars for me and 1 for my father. He's done an excellent job on all of them. Simon is friendly and very informative on the work he has done.

I no longer live in Swansea, but I am about to get in touch with Simon to get my bass set up when I go back next.

Highly recommended!!

Simon is a very good guitar tech - he's worked on several of my guitars, with jobs including refrets, setups, pickup installs, tuner replacement and putting together a Warmoth project for me. He's also worked on several friends' instruments, including an immaculate refret of a 70s Les Paul. I've recommended him before, and have no hesitation in doing so again.

Highly Recommended

Simon has worked on four of my guitars, my friends bass and my lead guitarist's guitar too. All different jobs, but the same outcome - fantastic service form a highly skilled guitar tech!

My view of simons work

i have nothing but good to say about simon all my guitars have come back feeling great and i am currently getting the parts together to have simon do a full set up and mods to it and cant wait for it to be done.when i had work done from him he was working out of cranes and if that had negitively effected his work then i cant wait to see what he does whith my axe now hes working 100% in his own time.the only time i have heared any bad comments made about his work is from a certain guitar shop he worked for (one that started of as a 2nd hand shop that sold dvds downstairs) and they have some bad blood beetween them hence the bad mouthing and the fact they offer maintanence services that cant realy compete with simons...any way the only thing i could say he could improve is to take more time to talk about set ups and how you would like it to feel etc other than that hes a top fella
