Harvey Thomas was one of the great American guitar designers and builders. This is an early example of his Century model - it has the typical heavy black sunburst style finish. Both the front and back have a German carve bevel, and the tuners are mounted on a curving line. Harvey made some of his own parts and this could be one of his own aluminum vibrato units - with what looks like a Gibson Tune-o-Matic bridge. The controls are mounted in a raised box made of layers of cut-out plexiglass and set into a deep routed pocket. If you look just under the pickups you can see a secondary raised pickguard which was a finger rest for finger picking style play.
