Overview

Brand name:

Product:

  • electric guitars

Series name:

Dates of manufacture:

1990 to 1996

Production of the The Prinz began in 1990 and ended in 1996. The design is based on a skunk-striped telecaster style guitar played by Prince. The guitar was made in Korea, and not endorsed by Prince. The body shape is just like a Telecaster, and it has the tele 25.5 inch scale length, 2 single coil pickups and fixed bridge. The body is 3 piece Californian maple with flamed maple top and back.

The first Hohner Prince custom model was called "The Prinz" with a Fender Headstock. Fender objected to the copyright violation so Hohner re-released the guitar in 1994 as the "TE Prinz" with a Hohner Headstock.

These guitars are popular with Prince fans. They sold for around $300 when new, but due to the Prince connection they sell for much more now.
