Kapa guitars were made in the USA using imported German necks, electronics and tuners. Kapa made their own bodies and tremolos, as well as the pickups on later guitars. The Kapa Continental had a scaled down Jazzmaster type solid body with a bolt-on neck, made from 1966 until 1970. Pickup configuration was HH or SSS and the Continental model was available as a 12-string and a bass. The Kapa instruments were generally well set up and their price was affordable compared to contemporary Fender instruments.
Kapa described the Continental as follows, in 1968:
"These instruments have a carefully designed body for perfect balance. Made of select hardwoods in beautiful gleaming hand-rubbed finishes. Pick-ups provide that full rich sound every guitarist looks for, mounted on fine qualify guard plate and with finger tip controls. All Continentals have the ultra slim neck with built in adjustable truss rod. Adjustments can be made instantly without removing the neck or the strings. Flat wound strings are used on all instruments. The 12-String model is available with or without vibrato. The Bass is fitted with either single or double pick-up.Available in Candy Apple Red, Bright Red, White, Pastel Yellow, Ocean Turquoise, Black or Thunderbird Blue."
