The Magnatone Mark X electric guitar is a solid body electric guitar with stereo electronics. This is likely to be one of the Paul Barth designed models, as at first glance it looks like a Rickenbacker, but closer inspection (e.g. the shape of the headstock) shows it is a Magnatone. It has two pickups, with volume and tone controls for each and a stereo output jack all mounted on the pick guard. The bridge is a Bigsby vibrato. The body is finished in no-mar rosewood – like the dashboard of an old corvette.

The 1960 Magnatone catalog has the following information: The MARK X DELUXE STEREO SPANISH ELECTRIC GUITAR WITH BIGSBY VIBRATO is beautifully finished in no-mar Rosewood for a lifetime of service. Fast end easy light action neck with genuine Rosewood fingerboard. Equipped with the latest and most advanced type pegs available finished in chrome plate. This stereo guitar is equipped with a dual cord through a single jack on the top and volume controls as well as tone controls for each pickup which may be used either as individual pickups or as stereo effects in unison. The single switch facilitates quick changes with varied-tonal colors possible.

Price: RRP $349.50 in 1960.
