The style 17 Martins have been around on and off for years: they had mahogany bodys and necks, rosewood bodies and bridges. An early style 17 was the model 2-17 designed as a small handy size guitar for general knock about use.
Martin reissued the 000-17 model (as the 000-17SM) in 2013 evoking the look of their early Style 17 guitars with a dark shaded gloss Sitka Spruce top, mahogany back and sides, morado fingerboard and tortoise shell brown binding. The new 000-17SM has 12-fret body, single ring rosette and vintage slotted headstock.
