The 00-1 (1 SERIES) was made between 1996 and 2000. The 00-1 is the Grand Concert version of the D-1. The 00-1 utilizes a solid mahogany back and 3-ply laminated mahogany sides. The 00 body size is approximately 1/2" smaller around its perimeter than the 000 size. This 00 size is the smallest size offered in the Martin line of stock instruments. All other specifications are similar to the D-1.

MARTIN produced the 00-1R between 1996 and 1998. The 00-1R is the Grand Concert version of the D-1R. The 00-1R utilizes 3-ply laminated East Indian rosewood back and sides. The 00 body size is approximately 1/2" smaller around its perimeter than the 000 size. All other specifications are similar to the D-1R.

The Martin 0000-1 was introduced in late 1996 as part of the Martin 1 Series. It had a 0000-size (also called M-size in some Martin models) grand auditorium body  with solid spruce top, solid mahogany back and mahogany sides finished in natural satin. The  14-fret mahogany neck joined the body at the 14th fret and had a 20-fret rosewood fretboard with dot inlays.

Martin introduced the D-1 dreadnought acoustic in 1993 as part of their 1 Series. The D-1 is an affordable traditional solid wood guitar in the spirit of the Style 15 and Style 17 models that Martin introduced during The Great Depression. The Dreadnought design (refined by Martin in the early-1900s) was first produced in 1931 bearing the Martin brand name. The first two models were named the D-1 and D-2 that soon became the legendary D-18 and D-28 models.

The Martin DC-1 was made between 1995 and 1999, with 1,267 made in total (not including the DC-1E model). The Martin DC-1 was the rounded Venetian cutaway version of the D-1. Its soundboard was bookmatched from solid Sitka spruce. The back was solid mahogany. The sides were made from 3-ply mahogany laminates. According to Martin these features, together with their durable "cross-link" satin finish, made the DC-1 especially suitable for on-the-road or concert use. The DC-1 came with an optional Martin/Fishman SLI Matrix EQ system (the DC-1E model).

MARTIN began making the J-1 in 1997 as part of the Martin 1-Series. The J-1 blended the Jumbo body size with the features and appointments of Martin's popular D-1 guitar. The J-1 was constructed with a solid Sitka spruce top, laminated mahogany sides, a solid mahogany back and mahogany neck. The 20 fret neck joined the body at the 14th fret. It came in a natural satin finish with Honey Gold toner on top. Optional gloss finish was available at additional charge.
