MARTIN produced the JM (ROAD SERIES) between 1998 and 2002. The Road Series was one of Martin's early attempts to produce a more affordable guitar, to compete with the import market. The Martin JM has 3 layer laminate back and sides - with a piece of rosewood sandwiched between two mahogany pieces and a solid spruce top.
