The design of the Michael Kelly Patriot Black is Les Paul inspired and uses simlar materials, construction and has the same 24.75 inch scale length. The single cut mahogany body has a solid 1/2" arched maple cap, and 5 ply black and white binding. The mahogany set-neck has an ebony fingerboard with 22 medium jumbo frets and grey dot inlays.

The Patriot Black has direct-mounted Rockfield® Fat Ass humbuckers, one tone and one volume control, with a coil tap option. Hardwareis chrome: a TonePros string through bridge and Grover tuners.

Color choices are , Black gloss or satin. Manufacturers recommended price (as of July 2007): $625, although you should be able to get it for less than $500.
