The Music Man Sterling bass was introduced in 1994. It comes with Music Man humbucking pickups with ceramic magnets and a hum canceling phantom coil as standard. You can also get dual humbuckers or a humbucker/single coil pickup as options (but only on right handed models).The standard version has a 22 fret maple or rosewood fingerboard but the Sterling is also available with a fretless pau ferro fingerboard. Ebony fingerboards are also an option.

This bass should not be confused with the "Sterling by Music Man" brand which is licensed to make affordable Indonesian versions of Music Man models.
