Product:
- electric guitars
Dates of manufacture:
The Silhouette was introduced in 1987 as the first Ernie Ball / Music Man production electric model designed by Dudley Gimpel with input from Albert Lee. The features of the Silhouette were described in Ernie Ball / Music Mann 1988 catalog:
4 & 2 HEADSTOCK CONFIGURATION
Tuning key posts align directly with the nut grooves, resulting in a straight string pull, eliminating hangup at the nut. Shorter string span from nut to tuning pegs eliminates the need for string retainers. Shorter headstock contributes to a lighter, more comfortable, better balanced guitar, which can fit in the overhead luggage compartment on most airlines.MODULAR PICKUP ASSEMBLIES
Four different pickup assemblies are available factory mounted to their pick- guards. All have total shielding—pickguard with aluminum lining plus nickel coated body cavity. Molex connectors allow a guitarist to change his sound in a matter of minutes, and without a soldering iron. String removal is not necessary, just loosen them. The music dealer can rapidly combine any of the pickup assemblies with body color or neck, thereby satisfying the needs of any customer.25-1/2” FULL SCALE 24 FRET NECK (LIKE NO OTHER!)
With gorgeous durable velvet finish, the Silhouette neck comes to you already customized through the perfect combination of meticulous craftsmanship' and innovative precision tooling. Provides four fully playable octaves with easy access to the high register frets. Special uniquely profiled fretwire (slightly taller and wider) helps contribute to sensitive bending response, superior intonation, and ease of playing. Neck is wider at the body providing more string bending area, and reducing the tendency of the first string to side-slip off the neck.SIX-BOLT NECK ATTACHMENT Six-bolts securely fasten neck to the body, completely eliminating any neck shifting. Perfect neck alignment is assured. NECK TRUSS ROD Steel truss rod runs the full length of the neck. Hardened steel adjusting wheel, located at the butt of the neck, is easily accessible. No need to remove strings, neck, or pickguard assembly. No special tool is required . . . use an Allen wrench, tiny screwdriver, a nail — whatever fits into the adjusting holes.
SMALLER CONTOURED BODY Numerous subtleties in design, weight, balance, material, finish, and craftsmanship combine to create the most attractive, comfortable body on the market!
TREMOLO BRIDGE Beautifully machined with locking nut, fine tuners, knife-edge fulcrum, and stain- less steel rollers. Does what you tell it to — smoothly and comfortably!
