The first run of Abel Axe models were made in 1994 to 1996 and had aluminium Swiss Cheese style bodys full of holes. This guitar is one of the limited number of aluminium bodied guitars Abel Axe made during 2000-2001. These models differ from most of the original 1994-1996 instruments, as they used a slotted body pattern, rather than the holes (there were some slotted examples though).

This series also used different anodizing methods to create a thicker coating with more vibrant colors. This example has had the neck replaced. The price (when new) was $2500 for single-color, $2700 multi-colored finish. These instruments are currently available at abelaxe.com as custom orders.

This one sold for $438 on eBay in April 2010

Some corrections as the

Some corrections as the information provided is misleading:

1. Some of the original run WERE slotted too .... a couple of prototypes (which were single hum too!).

2. Original run guitars did in fact have Abel Axe necks. Yes made by others (not Warmoth though) and had the Abel Axe logo. Warmoth necks were chosen to be added by some people instead of the original Abel Axe necks though.

Thanks for the useful info. I have corrected the page.
