Peavey aimed the Delta series of five non-cutaway dreadnoughts squarely at the first-time buyer market. The Peavey Delta series instruments are named after the Mississippi Delta birthplaces of famous performers - hence the Clarksdale (John Lee Hooker), Tupelo (Elvis Presley), Briarwood, Glendora, McComb and Indianola (BB King), the latter two also available as electro-acoustic versions.
The series was introduced in 1999 but by 2002 the various models had been discontinued. In 1999 the prices kicked off at a modest $200 / £80 (for the Clarksdale), and although the guitars were made in Korea and therefore have no association with the Mississippi Delta beyond their names.
