Morimoto

Chris Morimoto is an acoustic guitar builder who was born in Los Angeles, California. He studied luthiery at the Galloup School of Lutherie in Big Rapids, Michigan. After graduating he apprenticed with Bryan Galloup at Galloup Guitars for 1.5 years. In 2006 he returned to California to apprentice with Ervin Somogyi in Oakland. After finishing this apprenticeship he continues to work in the Somogyi workshop. As of 2023 he also began making guitars under his own name.

Saturnino Rojas

Saturnino Rojas (1859 to 1937) was an instrument maker from Madrid who made guitars, bandurrias, and laúdes in the period 1880 to 1935. Saturnino opened his workshop on the calle Atocha no. 115 in the 1880s. Rojas was the first teacher of Santos Hernandez. Saturnino lived above his workshop with his sister, never marrying. On his retirement in 1936, Marcelo Barbero and Manuel Rodriguez were interested in taking over his workshop - but ultimately did not proceed with the plan.

Modesto Borreguero

Modesto Borreguero (1893 to 1969) was a Spanish guitar maker who started as an apprentice with Manuel Ramirez at the age of 12. He worked alongside Santos Hernandez and Domingo Esteso, Ramirez died in 1916, but Borrequero, Hernandez and Esteso stayed at the request of Ramirez's widow and continued to operate the workshop in Calle Arlaban. After a few years, Hernandez and Esteso left to start their own workshops, but Borreguero stayed working for Manuel Ramirez’s widow until the workshop closed in 1923. At this point Borreguero married and opened his own workshop in 5, Duque de Fernan Nuñez  - although he still marked his labels "Antiguo oficial de M. Ramirez" to advertise his association with the master.

Agustin Andres

Agustin Andrés was a luthier who worked in Madrid in the late 1890s and early 1900s. According to his labels he made guitars, bandurrias, mandolins and lutes from his workshop at 7, Calle D. Manuel Fernández y Gonzalez. He had at least two apprentices who went on to become well known guitar makers: Manuel Rodríguez Pérez (who established Rodriguez guitars and Julián Gómez Ramírez who went on teach Robert Bouchet, One of Agustín Andrés' guitars was played for many years by famous guitarist and composer Agustin Barrios Mangore. Agustín Andrés relocated to Paris around 1908 where he opened a shop at 7, Rue de Pateux.

TLL Guitars

TLL electric and arch top guitars are hand made in Sweden by Tobias Lundberg. In his youth, Tobias Lundberg frequently accompanied his father to restoration projects in the southern regions of Sweden, involving old churches and houses. Witnessing the transformation of raw wood into aesthetically pleasing creations left a lasting impression on him, fostering a deep appreciation for woodworking.

Music held a significant place in Tobias's life. At the age of fourteen, he embarked on his musical journey by learning to play the guitar. Engaging in various band setups and composing original songs became integral parts of his musical pursuits. It was the realization that he could meld his love for woodworking with music by crafting his own guitars that truly captivated him.

Thomas Ochs

Thomas Ochs is a German luthier who specialises in making classical guitars based on the principles of Michael Kasha. Ochs also makes a variety of other instruments including electric basses and guitars. He learned guitar making from 1996 to 1999 as an apprentice at Hanika. A seminar with Boaz Elkayam inspired him as to the benefits of Kasha construction. He then studied from 2000-2004 at the University of Applied Sciences for Music Instrument Making in Markneukirchen, before opening his own workshop in Kemmern, near Bamberg. Ochs also publishes research into instrument design and construction as well as teaching music instrument making in Markneukirchen at the West Saxon University of Applied Sciences in Zwickau.

DeLuis

Greg DeLuis has been making guitars since the early 2000s. He makes them by hand in his workshop in Los Angeles. All inlay is hand cut and all guitars are hand carved and he favors traditional techniques to ensure that all instruments are of the highest quality. His range includes acoustic and archtop designs as well as semi-hollow and solid body electric guitars. DeLuis also offers tributes to the iconic Tiger and Wolf guitars played by Jerry Garcia.

Two Hands

The Two Hands Guitar Company is run by Joel Teel in Fairhope, Alabama. Teel worked for many years in the printing industry before changing careers to build custom boat interiors. He became interested in building acoustic guitars in the mid-1990s, after graduating from The University of Alabama with a degree in Communication. He built a climate controlled guitar making workshop next to his house. Around this time he met Stephen J. Sheriff (who builds his own “Edwinson Guitars”) who became a friend and mentor.
